Instructions for tow bar Motorcycle & Bike Carriers

Follow these instructions carefully to ensure safe usage of your new towbar mounted motorbike carrier.

MX Carrier – Once you load your bike you must use the supplied strap through the turnbuckles to prevent them vibrating loose.

Always run a Safety Line, secondary Tie Down from the inside of your bike back to your vehicle or to the extra tie down point on the carrier.

Strap off the frame or inside bottom triple clamp down to carrier/vehicle, this acts as a backup in the rare event something fails then the bike cannot fall outwards off the carrier.

All Rack N Ride motorcycle hitch carriers have multiple points to secure your motorcycle to the carrier, always use more than one connection/strap to each side of your motorcycle.

We have a new version of the Anti Tilt Bracket, no longer using the U Bolt as shown in the video.

Click on the Anti Tilt Bracket Instructions link below to see the new version.

Adventure Bike Carrier Instructions

Get all the bolts into the bike channel before you tighten anything.

Once you load your bike you must use the supplied strap through the turnbuckles to prevent them vibrating loose.

Always run a Safety Line, secondary Tie Down from the inside of your bike back to your vehicle or to the extra tie down point on the carrier.

With Adventure bikes you should be securing to at least two points each side of the bike – preferably three so that will be your backup / safety line also.

If you use turnbuckles onto the bikes pegs you must also strap off the bikes frame each side – you must also run a strap through the turnbuckles to prevent them vibrating loose.

PLUS a set off the forks, handlebars up front also. The straps off the forks I pull down 3mm, they are a double back up.

See videos below.

Sports Carrier Instructions

Always run a Safety Line, secondary Tie Down from the inside of your bike back to your vehicle or to the extra tie down point on the carrier.

With Sport bikes you should be running at least 3 points each side so that will be your backup / safety line also.

You can strap off the bikes frame each side.

Tyre Downs on the rear tyre are also effective.

Straps off the handlebars – Handlebar Harness – we pull down 5mm, they are a double back up.

Refer to videos on Sports PRODUCT page.

All the bolts are in this carrier where they need to be.

You only need to remove the three M12 x 170 in the centre to fit the Bike Channel to the Main Bar into your tow bar.

NOTE:

We keep the tolerance as tight as we can between these 2 parts, if the Bike Channel will not drop into the Main Bar just nip up 1 of the M10 x 170 bolts in the bracing to the very right.

This will squeeze the Bike Channel assembly together and help drop in.

If that doesn’t work then nip up one of the M10 x 170 bolts that the front Tie Down Bracket bolts to.

Once the Bike Channel drops into the Main Bar you will probably need to loosen the M10 x 170’s you just tightened to allow the M12 bolts to slide through the assembly.

MINI Instructions

Always run a Safety Line, secondary Tie Down from the inside of your bike back to your vehicle or to the extra tie down point on the carrier.

The Mini can be assembled to load from either the LH or RH side.

The SCOOTER LED Instructions here apply to the MINI also.

If you assemble to load from LH / Pass side wiring is:

Pin 1. LH Ind – Yellow

Pin 6. Stop – Red

Pin 3. Earth – White

Pin 7. Tail / Running – Brown

Pin 4. RH Ind – Green

If you assemble to load from RH / Drivers side you need to reverse the Indicators.

When you store the ramp the gal cup head bolt goes right through the bike carrier and pins through the ramp also.

When you load the bike the gal cup head locks the ramp on the back of the carrier.

Scooter Assembly Tips

Always run a Safety Line, secondary Tie Down from the inside of your bike back to your vehicle or to the extra tie down point on the carrier.

With Scooters you should be running at least 2 points each side so that will be your backup / safety line.
